Winterization Assistance through Distribution of Quilts

The project was implemented in Kabul as part of an emergency relief and winterization response aimed at supporting vulnerable women during the cold winter season. The intervention was designed to address immediate seasonal needs by providing essential winter relief items to beneficiaries who required additional protection against harsh weather conditions. Under the project, a total of 250 quilts were distributed to 250 women in Kabul. The assistance helped provide beneficiaries with essential household winter protection, contributing to improved warmth, comfort, and well-being during a period when vulnerable households faced increased risks associated with low temperatures and limited access to adequate winter supplies. The project covered the identification and organization of beneficiaries, preparation and handling of relief items, coordination of distribution activities, and direct delivery of the quilts to the targeted women. Particular attention was given to ensuring that the assistance reached the intended beneficiaries in an organized, timely, and equitable manner. Implemented between 26 November 1996 and 7 December 1996, the project formed part of an emergency winterization initiative supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Through the distribution of essential non-food winter items, the intervention contributed to meeting the immediate humanitarian needs of vulnerable women and strengthening their ability to cope with challenging winter conditions. The project demonstrated an effective approach to emergency relief delivery through targeted beneficiary assistance, organized distribution, and timely provision of essential winterization materials.
